In Loving Memory: Irene Swindells

Irene originally from Antigonish, grew up in Newport Station and later Halifax. A graduate of Mount Saint Vincent Academy, Irene’s early employment was with Canada Permanent Trust. Irene met Harold Swindells, married and raised their son Gregory and their daughter Karen. Irene returned to the business life once her children were grown, and for more than 25 years was the Administrator and Marketing Agent for Melville Heights. Irene was a board member of the Spryfield Business Commission. She was involved with many associations over the years, such as Mount Saint Vincent University Board, Chair of the Halifax Vocational School Board, Canada Mortgage and Housing Board, Advisory Council for the Order of Nova Scotia and Rockingham Heritage.
